Throne of Glass By: Sarah J. Maas

I have had this book on my kindle for a while, but had not gotten around to reading it. I picked it up on Thursday and finished it last night. Though the beginning was a little bit slow to start, I was intrigued by the characters right away. Though Celaena was mostly tough because of her past, she also had a strength of character that I believe she would have had no matter what. I find it is very difficult for me to enjoy female protagonists these days as they are mostly overdone, arrogant and so “strong” that they have no flaws. This wasn’t the case here. Though Celaena was definitely strong, she was also very much human and that was something I appreciated reading. The secondary characters were great as well and they were clearly well thought out. I also greatly enjoyed the story. After the initial slowness of the beginning, the story picked up very quickly and I found myself not being able to put the book down until I was finished. I really enjoyed this book and definitely plan on reading Crown of Midnight. If you enjoy YA Fantasy that has depth and strength of character, I would highly recommend this book.
